Lattimore undergoing knee surgery later this week
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore says he will undergo knee surgery later this week.
Lattimore injured the knee on Oct. 15 against Mississippi State. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said Tuesday that doctors wanted the swelling to go down in the knee and the injuries to stabilize before surgery.
Lattimore tore a ligament in his left knee and also suffered some cartilage damage when a player rolled on his leg as he blocked for Bruce Ellington.
Lattimore no longer needs crutches to walk. He says he is impatient to get the surgery finished so he can begin rehabilitation exercises on the knee. He says he has gotten letters from thousands of fans saying they are praying for him and hoping for a speedy recovery for next season.
