Islanders agree to deal with D Staios

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Islanders have agreed to a one-year deal with defenseman Steve Staios, the team announced Friday.

Staios has been at the Islanders' training camp and played in three preseason games. He has played in 936 NHL games for the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Atlanta Thrashers, Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.

Staios has 56 goals and 156 assists in his career.
