Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon are about to become teammates again, this time in Tampa Bay.

Both free-agent outfielders agreed to one-year contracts with the Rays, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreements had not been announced.

Damon gets $5.25 million and the chance to earn $750,000 in bonuses based on attendance, the person said. Ramirez gets $2 million.

The moves mark the first major additions for the AL East champions after a devastating offseason in which one prominent player after another left cost-conscious Tampa Bay.

Carl Crawford, Carlos Pena and Rafael Soriano signed elsewhere as free agents. Matt Garza and Jason Bartlett were traded. A strong bullpen was depleted by the losses of Joaquin Benoit, Dan Wheeler and Chad Qualls.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Some of Barry Bonds' former teammates, along with other retired Major League Baseball players and perhaps current player Jason Giambi, will have to testify at the slugger's upcoming perjury trial, a federal judge said.

Lawyers for Bonds argued at a hearing before U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston that the players should be excluded because of their ties to Bonds' former trainer Greg Anderson, who is refusing to testify against the slugger.

Illston previously barred much of the evidence relating to Anderson because of his willingness to go to prison on contempt charges rather than testify at the trial set to start March 21.

Without his testimony, it could be impossible to prove that urine samples that purportedly tested positive for steroids had been collected from Bonds by Anderson.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former star pitcher Roger Clemens has asked a judge to dismiss his indictment on charges of obstructing a congressional investigation into the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball.

A motion filed by Clemens' attorneys argues the indictment is vague and contains too many separate accusations of lying in one count.

The motion states that that could cause jurors who don't unanimously agree to still convict Clemens in violation of his constitutional rights.

CYCLING

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) - Lance Armstrong says he will be vindicated by a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency investigation of claims raised by a report in Sports Illustrated.

Armstrong used Twitter to suggest that USADA may probe allegations published by the magazine this week in an article entitled "The Case Against Lance Armstrong.''

Armstrong is currently competing in the Tour Down Under in South Australia and has refused to comment on the Sports Illustrated report, other than to say he has nothing to worry about "on any level'' from its claims.

GOLF

LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) - Gary Woodland shot an 8-under 64 for a share of the third-round lead at 18 under in the Bob Hope Classic with Jhonattan Vegas.

Vegas maintained his steady play in his fifth PGA Tour event with a 67 at the Silver Rock course. The Venezuelan rookie has a share of the lead for the second straight day in the 90-hole, four-course tournament.

Woodland and Vegas are among the longest hitters off the tee in the Hope field, yet Woodland barely touched his driver on the friendly Nicklaus course while carding the best round of his career in relation to par.

Australia's Greg Chalmers (65) was a stroke back, and Scotland's Martin Laird was 16 under after a bogey-free 64.

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - Padraig Harrington was disqualified from the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship after he failed to replace a ball that moved a fraction of an inch when he picked up his marker during the opening round.

The three-time major winner was called in before the second round to review video replays and accepted his disqualification after acknowledging the ball moved ever so slightly on the seventh green. Harrington was in second place after a 65. A television viewer e-mailed European Tour officials to report an infraction.

Defending champion Martin Kaymer shot a 65 to take a three-stroke lead at 12 under. Charl Schwartzel, the Joburg Open winner last week, was second after a 71. U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell (70) was 8 under.

Phil Mickelson followed his opening 71 with a 70, and top-ranked Lee Westwood was even par after a 75.

KAUPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii (AP) - Russ Cochran had two eagles and six birdies in a career-best 10-under 62 to take the first-round lead in the Champions Tour's season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship.

The 52-year-old left-hander, a two-time winner last season, was near-perfect in his bogey-free round on a defenseless day at Hualalai. He had a two-stroke lead over defending champion Tom Watson and Ben Crenshaw.

Bernhard Langer, the three-time defending player of the year and the 2009 champion, opened with a 65 to match Jeff Sluman and Mark McNulty.
