TURIN, Italy (AP) -- Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero has signed a one-year contract extension for a reported minimal salary.

The new deal announced on the club's website Thursday extends through June 30, 2012.

Italian daily La Repubblica reports that the deal is worth about ?1 million ($1.5 million), making Del Piero one of the lowest paid players on the squad.

The 36-year-old Del Piero has played his entire Serie A career with Juventus. He joined the club in 1993 and is currently completing his 18th season with the Turin outfit.

The deal will allow Del Piero to play in the new stadium Juventus is planning to open next season.
