CARSON, Calif. (AP) - D.C. United midfielder Dwayne De Rosario has been voted Major League Soccer's Most Valuable player, capping an unusual season in which he was traded twice.

He became the second player in a North American major league to win an MVP in a season he was traded, following Joe Thornton for Boston and San Jose in the NHL in 2005-06, according to MLS.

He received 72.72 percent of voting by media, players and club officials announced Friday, with the percentage of each group totaled. Houston's Brad Davis was second at 43.66 percent.

De Rosario began the season with Toronto, was traded to New York on April 1 after three games, then was dealt again June 27.

De Rosario had 16 goals and 12 assists.
