CINCINNATI (AP) The Cincinnati Reds have recalled right-hander Todd Redmond from Triple-A Louisville to pitch the second game of their day-night doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs.

The start will be the 27-year-old Redmond's major league debut.

Redmond has been recalled a total of four times by two different teams this season, but this is the first time he'll make an appearance. He was recalled once by Atlanta before being traded to Cincinnati on July 14 for infielder Paul Janish. The Reds recalled him twice to be available in case a scheduled starter wasn't able to go.

The Reds weren't required to send anybody out to make room for Redmond. Baseball's rules allow teams to add a 26th player to their active roster for doubleheaders such as Saturday's, which was scheduled after a May 1 postponement.
