NEW YORK (AP) -- The game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees scheduled for Tuesday night was postponed because of inclement weather.

The teams will play a day-night doubleheader Wednesday, with the opener starting at 1:05 p.m. and the second game at 7:05 p.m.

A light rain fell and brisk winds whipped the flags above the ballpark when the game was called about three hours before it was supposed to start. Players from both sides tossed balls in the outfield after it was postponed.

Andy Pettitte was slated to start for the AL East-leading Yankees on Tuesday night, and now will pitch Wednesday's opener. He has been out since a line drive broke his lower left leg in late June.

Elsewhere in New York, the scheduled game between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets on Tuesday night has also been postponed because of inclement weather.

The game between the NL East rivals will be made up Thursday night, an originally scheduled off day for both clubs.

The Phillies came into play Tuesday trailing the St. Louis Cardinals by 3 1/2 games for the second National League wild-card spot.
