Larkin visits Baseball Hall of Fame

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Barry Larkin got a head start on visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The longtime Reds shortstop, in town for preparation for his induction on Sunday, July 22, toured the facility for the first time.

Larkin will be inducted with the late Ron Santo, who was an All-Star third baseman and broadcaster with the Chicago Cubs.

Larkin played 19 seasons with the Reds, where he had a .295 average, 2,340 hits, 1,329 runs, 198 home runs, 960 RBIs and 379 stolen bases.

A 12-time All-Star, Larkin helped his hometown Cincinnati Reds win the 1990 World Series and in 1996 became the first shortstop to have 30 homers and 30 steals in a season.
