Indians sign pair of free agent outfielders

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians have signed free agent outfielders Matt Carson and Cedric Hunter to minor league contracts.

Both deals include invitations to major league spring training camp.

Carson spent most of last season with Minnesota's Triple-A Rochester affiliate. The 31-year-old batted .282 with 14 homers and 53 RBIs in 115 games. He appeared in 26 games in two stints with the Twins, batting .227 (15 of 56). He played in 72 major league games for Oakland and Minnesota. Carson was selected by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the 2002 draft.

Hunter was in St. Louis' organization last season. The 24-year-old hit .268 with five homers and 44 RBIs in 129 games for Triple-A Memphis. He began his career with San Diego and played in six games for the Padres in 2011.
