SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Two people with knowledge of the negotiations say second baseman Marco Scutaro is weighing a two-year contract offer from the San Francisco Giants that includes a vesting option.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday night because no agreement had been finalized. Scutaro is seeking a three-year deal, one of the people said. The Giants and Scutaro's representatives met Tuesday, and negotiations were considered to be ongoing.

The World Series champions hope to have an idea by the conclusion of this week's winter meetings in Nashville, Tenn., whether Scutaro will accept the offer.

The 37-year-old Scutaro, the NL championship series MVP, batted .362 with three homers and 44 RBIs in 61 games with the Giants after he was acquired in a July 27 trade with the Colorado Rockies.
