Preseason: Irving scores 10 in Cleveland's win

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Kyrie Irving, the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, scored 10 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Italy's Montepaschi Siena 91-85 in their preseason opener Monday night.

Samardo Samuels led Cleveland with 14 points and Donald Sloan added 13. The Cavaliers had six players score in double figures.

Bobby Brown scored a game-high 22 points for Siena while Matt Janning added 21.

Irving, who broke his right hand practicing with the summer league team in July, played 21 minutes and had three assists.

Dion Waiters, taken by Cleveland with the fourth pick in the draft, scored 11 points off the bench. C.J. Miles started at shooting guard and scored 10 points. Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said before the game Waiters would have to earn a spot in the starting lineup. Waiters entered the game in the second quarter and his first shot was an airball.

Golden State 83, Utah 80

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- David Lee had 19 points and 14 rebounds, Brandon Rush added 14 points and the Golden State Warriors held off a late charge to beat the Utah Jazz in an exhibition game.

Stephen Curry had two points and six assists in his first game since March 11 while Klay Thompson scored 11 points for the Warriors (2-0).

Curry had surgery in April to repair his injured right ankle.

Golden State led 69-58 in the fourth quarter before Utah made a late run behind center Enes Kanter. Kanter had 12 points and 11 rebounds and made a layup with 1:01 remaining that pulled the Jazz within 83-80.

Paul Millsap and Marvin Williams had 13 points apiece for Utah (0-1).

Curry played only 12 minutes and didn't score until making an 18-foot turnaround jumper late in the second quarter. He was clearly fatigued and stayed in the locker room after halftime icing his ankle.

Toronto 102, Real Madrid 96

TORONTO (AP) -- DeMar DeRozan scored 18 points and John Lucas added 16 to help the Toronto Raptors beat Real Madrid in an ehxibition game.

Andrea Bargnani had 14 points for the Raptors, who ended the third quarter up by two before pulling away in the fourth. Amir Johnson added 12 points, scoring on several big dunks, while rookie Terrence Ross had 10 points.

Nikola Mirotic had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Real Madrid, which had four player who helped Spain win the silver medal at the London Olympics.

The crowd was dotted with Madrid fans who periodically broke into Spanish songs.

The Raptors were missing newcomers Kyle Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas - Lowry's debut has been put on hold because of a strained adductor muscle in his left leg, while Valanciunas is sidelined with a calf strain.
