Johnson meets with Kings co-owner George Maloof
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson met with Kings owner George Maloof on Friday in Las Vegas in an attempt to revive talks about a new arena for the NBA team.
Johnson, speaking at halftime of the Kings-Thunder game in Sacramento on Friday night, said his meeting with Maloof was "productive.'' Johnson said Maloof reiterated that the team prefers to stay in Sacramento, and the two sides agreed to meet again next week.
The Maloof family issued a statement, saying: "The meeting was cordial; however, nothing definitive resulted.''
George Maloof and brothers Joe and Gavin own the team.
