Indiana recruit Ron Patterson won't play for Hoosiers |

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Ron Patterson will not play basketball for Indiana.
The highly-touted recruit from Indianapolis will transfer after failing to meet the school's academic requirements. Coach Tom Crean issued a statement wishing Patterson well and promised to be "supportive" of whatever he chooses to do.
Patterson can now sign with another four-year school, enter prep school or attend junior college.
He averaged 18.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season at Broad Ripple High School and was chosen to the Indiana All-Star team.
Without Patterson, the Hoosiers will now be at their 13-scholarship limit for next season, one in which many college basketball analysts expect the Hoosiers to challenge for a national championship.
