INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse may soon be getting a new look.

At a news conference Friday, school officials kicked off the public fundraising drive to raise $5 million in addition to the $11 million the school has already collected to renovate one of America's classic college basketball arenas. The intention is to update the facility without changing the charm of the building that was constructed in 1928.

Plans call for adding a student academic center, chair-backed seating, additional restrooms, a three-story coaches' office, a new scoreboard with video capabilities and new energy-efficient window panes above the basketball court, which is one of the arena's trademark features.

Athletic director Barry Collier and men's basketball coach Brad Stevens insist the brick structure and the sightlines and balconies inside the historic landmark will not change.
