Savannah State pulls away from Robert Morris 61-52

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Preston Blackman scored 20 points and Savannah State overcame 20 turnovers in the Tigers' 61-52 win over poor-shooting Robert Morris on Monday night.

Blackman was 7 of 11 from the field with three of his four misses coming from beyond the arc. Stephen Wilson and Louis Arnold added 10 points apiece while Jyles Smith anchored Savannah State's (5-3) defense with six blocks.

Robert Morris (3-4) led 6-1 early but Savannah State rallied, taking a 23-17 halftime lead behind 12 first-half points from Blackman.

Blackman's lone 3-pointer of the night extended Savannah State's lead to 15, 37-22, in the second half and the Tigers led by as many as 19 points, 43-24, after intermission.

Savannah State held Robert Morris to just 28.6 percent (16 of 56) shooting and outrebounded the Colonials 43-32.

Lucky Jones led Robert Morris with 18 points but was the only Colonials starter in double-figures.
