MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Britain's cycling coach is expected to make a full recovery after a bike crash landed him in the hospital in Manchester.

British Cycling says Shane Sutton is making "steady progress'' from his accident on Thursday and will have surgery on a broken cheekbone. He sustained bruising and bleeding from the brain when he was admitted to hospital after the crash.

British Cycling says Friday in a statement that Sutton is "expected to make a complete recovery and will be back in work shortly.''

Sutton's accident happened a day after Tour de France and Olympic time trial champion Bradley Wiggins was hit by a car while riding his bike in Lancashire, Northern England. Wiggins was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.
