Fact: All local announcers are homers. It doesn't matter if it's TV or radio, local announcers root for the home team. Sure, some folks like
White Sox TV guy Ken "Hawk"
Harrelson and
Yankees radio guy John Sterling are way over the top, but the bottom line is "local = homer." However, when local announcers cross over to do a national game, you'd think they put the homerism away for a few hours. That wasn't the case Saturday, when Phillies broadcaster
Tom McCarthy called the Philadelphia-San Francisco game for Fox.
Listen to the depression in McCarthy's voice when
Matt Cain homered off
Cole Hamels and then listen to him go nuts when Hamels returned the favor and homered off Cain.
