Fantasy Player Projections

Tony Romo

Even though Romo has suffered defeat in his last five starts against New York his fantasy numbers have been dandy. On Wednesday, he'll feast on a banged-up Giants secondary playing without CB Terrell Thomas (lost for the year).

DeMarco Murray

Which Murray will fantasy owners see in Week 1: The fresh-legged back who lit the league on fire last October and November? Or the injury-prone rookie who hobbled to the finish line? Hmmm, something in the middle, we suspect.

Felix Jones

This offense belongs to DeMarco Murray now. Jones is a nice change-of-pace back, good for a handful of carries and a catch or two -- little else. He still has the burst to offer his team a long-gainer now and then, but fantasy owners should not expect much of that this week.

Dez Bryant

The Cowboys' top target will eat up a New York defense that has no choice but to start journeyman Michael Coe due to multiple injuries at the cornerback position. Bon appétit!

Miles Austin

Austin's hamstring kept him on the sideline in August, but he had a good week of practice and all reports suggest he'll be in the lineup Wednesday night. The Cowboys will limit his touches, of course, and the nature of the injury will limit Austin's explosiveness.

Dwayne Harris

Harris caught eight balls this preseason, including three for touchdowns, and averaged more than 20 yards per reception. Back to reality. Many believe he can replace Laurent Robinson as Dallas' No. 3 receiver this season, but in this game's his contribution will be minimal.

John Phillips

Jason Witten does not appear ready to suit up for Big D, leaving the door open for Phillips to rise to the occasion. One stat for fantasy owners to chew on: Phillips' only career touchdown came against the Giants in Week 14 last season.

Dan Bailey

Bailey should do well for fantasy owners this week, but nothing comes easy against New York. The Giants defense allowed just 31 field goal attempts last season, and long-armed Jason Pierre-Paul is always a threat to block kicks.

The Giants do a wonderful job of closing off the edges and preventing DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer from creating havoc (the duo has 3.5 sacks combined against New York over the past three seasons). As usual, Rob Ryan will craft an aggressive gameplan, resulting in a big play or two.

Eli Manning

Manning hasn't thrown for more than 300 yards in Week 1 since 2007 -- a streak that will end on Wednesday. Dallas has too many question marks in the secondary (new faces, injuries) for Manning not to take full advantage.

Ahmad Bradshaw

The Cowboys defense has limited Bradshaw to 3.2 yards per carry in the last three meetings between these clubs. If Bradshaw fails to move the chains early on Wednesday, his workload will shrink in the second half.

David Wilson

For now, Wilson is Ahmad Bradshaw's primary backup. For now. After this game we have a hunch coach Tom Coughlin will begin to rethink his depth chart. Wilson will prove difficult for Dallas to stop once he gets outside the tackles.

Victor Cruz

The Cowboys had no answer for Cruz in last season's finale. Dallas rebuilt the cornerback position this offseason and the team still has no answer for the elusive Cruz. Bump him, double him, talk smack ... nothing will help Dallas stop Cruz from making big plays.

Hakeem Nicks

Nicks is expected to return for Week 1 after missing the entire preseason with a foot injury. Don't take this to mean he is 100% -- even if the foot is fully healed, Nicks hasn't played a competitive down since the Super Bowl.

Domenick Hixon

Hixon will replace Mario Manningham as the No. 3 receiver in New York?s passing attack. He is no Manningham. If there is a reason for optimism this week, it's that Dallas is thin on talent in the secondary.

Martellus Bennett

This offseason Bennett joined a Giants club with a reputation for taking unwanted tight ends and turning them into stars. He'd love nothing more than to shine against his former team in the season opener. He'll get his wish (sort of).

Lawrence Tynes

Over the past three years, Tynes has never been held to fewer than seven points against the Cowboys, with an average of 9.5 points in the last six meetings. Unless Eli Manning and the passing game sputter (unlikely) Tynes will have a nice week for fantasy owners.

Dallas' rag-tag offensive line doesn't have a prayer against the Giants' front seven. Fantasy owners can expect New York to protect its secondary by bringing plenty of heat in an attempt to duplicate the team's six-sack effort from Week 17 last year.
