HONOLULU (AP) - Jacksonville Jaguars assistant defensive backs coach Thom Kaumeyer is the new defensive coordinator at Hawaii.

New Warriors coach Norm Chow announced the hiring on Wednesday.

The former NFL safety, who played with Seattle (1989-90) and New York Giants (1991-92), has more than 20 years of coaching experience.

Kaumeyer has spent the past four seasons with the Jaguars. Before Jacksonville, he coached at Kentucky, Tulane and San Diego State. Kaumeyer also spent two seasons on the Atlanta Falcons staff (2000-01), serving as the defensive quality control coach.

He also coached in Japan.

Chow says Kaumeyer is a tremendous defensive mind and will be a great tutor to younger defensive coaches.
