Michigan suspends backup safety Josh Furman

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Michigan has suspended backup safety Josh Furman two months after his arrest on suspicion of assault.

Furman is facing three charges - domestic violence, assault and illegal entry - after the arrested in Ann Arbor.

"Josh was suspended indefinitely from team activities as soon as we became aware of the report,'' Wolverines coach Brady Hoke said Monday. "These are serious allegations. We will allow the judicial process to run its course before making a final determination on his status with the program.''

Furman made 10 tackles in 12 games last season as a redshirt freshman. He was used in two games as a backup in the secondary and in 12 on special teams. Furman, who is from Annapolis, Md., blocked a punt in the win over Nebraska.
