BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) - The jurors in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial are expected to deliberate into the evening.

The seven women and five men began discussing the case Thursday afternoon after lawyers delivered lengthy closing arguments. They are still talking.

The jury is weighing 48 counts against Sandusky, covering 10 boys over a 15-year period. They are being sequestered during deliberations.

Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach, has maintained his innocence.

Prosecutors contend the retired Penn State assistant football coach is a serial, predatory pedophile who showered them with gifts including football tickets. The scandal following Sandusky's arrest in November led to the firing of longtime head coach Joe Paterno.

Meanwhile, lawyers for Matt Sandusky - one of Jerry Sandusky's adopted sons - have issued a statement saying the man recently told authorities that his father abused him.
