Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall and nose tackle Casey Hampton were activated from the physically unable to perform list.

Mendenhall underwent knee surgery in January after being injured in the regular-season finale. While he can resume practicing, Mendenhall has been expected to miss about the first six weeks of the regular season. However, being activated from the PUP list may indicate he could be ready to play sooner than expected.

Hampton also had January knee surgery after being injured in Pittsburgh's playoff loss at Denver. He has stated he intends to be ready in time for Week 1 of the regular season.
