AP Pro32 comments about Lions
NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the Detroit Lions by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
DETROIT LIONS (21)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 20) - Need to use brains on field as well as brawn.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 18) - Forget about last season. Lions just aren't the same team.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 24) - Comment currently unavailable
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 16) - All kind of issues, including horrendous special teams play.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 22) - Lions looking like the classic case of a team that overachieves one year and regresses the next.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 23) - The Lions have a much needed bye. That will give them time to work on special teams, which have allowed four kick returns for touchdowns in the last two games.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 21) - Consider this: The Lions are only 10 seconds away from 0-4.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 26) - Still looking for their first pick of the season, they've got a week off to recapture their mojo.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 24) - The Lions rush isn't as effective as it has been in the past and consequently the secondary gets exposed.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 20) - Another team with a ton of talent that needs to start showing up on Sundays.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 23) - The Lions are 6-10 in their past 16 games dating back to last season and it showed on the field once again in Sunday's 20-13 home loss to Minnesota.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 19) - If there is a way to lose, the Lions apparently will find it. This is one of the NFL's most enigmatic teams.
