AP Pro32 comments about Chargers
NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the San Diego Chargers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (19)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 18) - Better figure it out before arriving in Denver.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 18) - Norv Turner sounds frustrated. Chargers fans are more frustrated.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 17)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 20) - Philip Rivers is not the same player he once was. Going back to last season, his fourth quarter turnovers are alarming.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 20) - Still trying to figure out why Philip Rivers would throw that pass. You know, the one that was intercepted, returned for a touchdown, and threw more misery onto a season gone bad.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 19) - Phillip Rivers has thrown nine interceptions and lost three fumbles in the Chargers' five losses this season.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 19) - Anyone who knows a realtor they trust is urged to contact Norv Turner.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 18) - One awful throw by Philip Rivers in Tampa may have sealed Norv Turner's fate.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 18) - A dangerous team that can beat anyone one day and lose to anybody the next week. Rivers needs to protect the ball and his line needs to protect him.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 20) - Having played against him a lot, I have a great deal of respect for Philip Rivers. However, the harsh reality is he used to be a closer, now he wilts in the fourth quarter.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 15) - Chargers head coach Norv Turner snapped at a stupid media question during his postgame news conference. Turner should save the anger for quarterback Philip Rivers, who remains too inconsistent for the Chargers to build momentum down the home stretch.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 20) - Chargers are 1-4 in their last five, and it won't get easier this week with a trip to Denver.
