AP Pro32 comments about Texans
NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the Houston Texans by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
HOUSTON TEXANS (1)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 4) - Only Van Brocklin threw for more than Houston quarterbacks Schaub and Moon.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 4) - The defense had a letdown against Jaguars, but Matt Schaub didn't.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 1) - A win is a win, particularly in the division.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 1) - When your defense isn't at its best, nice to have Matt Schaub save the day with five TD passes, including the game-winner in OT of a surprisingly difficult win over the Jaguars. Not gonna penalize Texans on style points. Bottom line: They got it done.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 1) - The Texans sit atop the AFC with a 9-1 record but now embark on a three-game road trip (Detroit, Tennessee, New England). It's only the second three-game trip in franchise history.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 1) - So the Texans struggled vs. Jacksonville. They keep winning. My only question is: Did they peak too soon?
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 1) - Led by J.J. Watt, this swarming defense will gobble up Matt Stafford on Thanksgiving.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 1) - A shaky performance especially on defense this week giving up 36 points to the Jaguars, but the offense prevailed in overtime. For now they keep the top spot, but there are teams on the rise.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 1) - Well, no one saw a shootout with the Jaguars coming but the Texans found a way behind a huge day for Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson and keep a tenuous hold on to the No. 1 spot.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 1) - At some point during the season, every good team deserves a mulligan for performing poorly against a weaker opponent. I'm giving one to the Texans for last Sunday's 43-37 overtime victory over lowly Jacksonville.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 1) - They had a letdown game and got away with it. That's a sign of a good team.
