Sabres set to open talks with center Grigorenko |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- The Buffalo Sabres aren't wasting time in their bid to sign top draft pick, center Mikhail Grigorenko.
General manager Darcy Regier said Monday he's already informed the player's agent that he intends to open contract talks in the very near future. The Sabres selected Grigorenko with the 12th pick in the NHL draft on Friday, and they believe the Russian-born player has the potential to make an immediate impact this season.
Whether or not Grigorenko proves ready, Regier added that the Sabres aren't done stockpiling centers this offseason. After using four of their eight picks on centers in the draft last weekend, Regier is now turning his attention to acquiring an experienced forward in free agency or by trade.
