Chilkoot Trail wins Meadowlands allowance feature

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Chilkoot Trail took the lead near the top of the stretch and drew off to win the $37,500 allowance feature at the Meadowlands on Saturday, beating Goose Bay by three lengths.

Trained by Mary Eppler and ridden by Victor Santiago, the 5-year-old gelding ran a mile over the firm turf course in 1:40 and returned $9.60, $5.20 and $3. It was the third win in 17 career starts for the New Jersey-bred horse.

Goose Bay paid $20.80 and $8.60, while One For Don was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third and returned $4.80.
