PRAGUE (AP) -- Two-time Olympic javelin champion Barbora Spotakova will miss next season because she is pregnant.

The Czech made the announcement Tuesday alongside her boyfriend, Lukas Novotny.

The 31-year-old world-record holder is planning to return to track and field in 2014 and retire after the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

She won't compete at the 2013 world championships in Moscow or any of the Diamond League meets.

Spotakova successfully defended her Olympic javelin title in London.
