LONDON (AP) - French tennis player Gael Monfils has withdrawn from the Olympics because of a right knee injury.

The No. 17-ranked Monfils dropped out a day after Rafael Nadal also ruled himself out of the London Games because of undisclosed injury problems.

Monfils was replaced Friday by Julien Benneteau for the July 28-Aug. 5 Olympic tennis competition at Wimbledon. He will play singles alongside Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon and Richard Gasquet.

Benneteau will also play with Gasquet in men's doubles, while Tsonga will team up with Michael Llodra.

The 25-year-old Monfils didn't play at the French Open and Wimbledon this year because of the knee problem.
