LONDON (AP) - Maggie Steffens scored seven goals in her Olympic debut, and the United States beat Hungary 14-13 Monday at the London Games.

Despite a team full of veterans, it was the 19-year-old Steffens who led the way with sharp shooting from outside for the Americans, who are looking to win their first gold in the event.

The U.S. has finished on the podium at every Olympics since the women's game debuted in 2000, taking home bronze in 2004 and silver in 2000 and 2008.

With seven players back from the Beijing squad, the Americans are the gold medal favorites in London along with rival Australia.

The win Monday against Hungary puts the U.S. even with Spain at the top of Group A.
