THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- Dutch club FC Twente says former England coach Steve McClaren is returning to the club on a 2 1/2-year contract to succeed Co Adriaanse, who was fired this week.

McClaren coached Twente to its first Dutch league title in 2010 before leaving to coach German club Wolfsburg and then Nottingham Forest in England. He has been without a club since leaving Forest last October.

Twente says McClaren will be officially presented on Friday.
