SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- The San Jose Earthquakes have signed two-time MLS leading goal scorer Chris Wondolowski to a new contract.

General manager John Doyle announced the deal on Thursday, saying he wanted to reward Wondolowski for his success. Terms were not disclosed.

Wondolowski scored 16 goals last season to tie D.C. United's Dwayne De Rosario for the league lead. Wondolowski had 18 goals the previous season. He joined Stern John and Carlos Ruiz as the only players to tie or lead the MLS in goals in consecutive seasons.

Wondolowski has also played five games for the U.S. national team.
