MOSCOW (AP) -- Big-spending Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala said Monday that coach Yury Krasnozhan has resigned after less than two months in charge, fueling speculation the team will sign a more prominent manager.

The deep-pocketed club has been linked with both former Russia coach Guus Hiddink and Fabio Capello, who resigned as England coach last week.

A statement on the club website announcing Krasnozhan's resignation said both sides had agreed not to discuss the reasons for the separation.

The team leaves for Turkey for preseason training on Wednesday.

Anzhi is owned by Suleiman Kerimov, a Kremlin-connected billionaire who is a native of Dagestan, the province in southern Russia where the club is based. It signed striker Samuel Eto'o from Inter Milan this past offseason.
