Wales striker Evans jailed for 5 years for rape

CAERNARFON, Wales (AP) -- Wales striker Ched Evans has been jailed for five years for raping a woman.

The 23-year-old Evans was found guilty of raping the woman in May 2011. Another player, Clayton McDonald, was found not guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court in north Wales.

Evans plays for third-tier Sheffield United and has scored two goals in 13 appearances for Wales. He scored 29 goals in 36 league matches for Sheffield United this season.
