Roma's Lamela banned for 3 matches for spitting
ROME (AP) -- Roma forward Erik Lamela has been banned for three matches for spitting at Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.
The incident occurred toward the end of Juve's 4-0 rout of Roma on Sunday, after Lichtsteiner had shown four fingers to represent the four goals.
Roma says in a statement it won't appeal and that the 20-year-old Lamela has asked to be excused by fans, teammates, his manager and Lichtsteiner.
