ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Fenerbahce has signed Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt from Liverpool.

The Turkish club tweeted that Kuyt has agreed to play for the Istanbul side for the next three years.

It gave no further detail on the terms of the transfer.

The Netherlands international joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in 2006.

"Everyone at Liverpool Football Club would like to wish Dirk all the very best for the future and thank him for his contribution to the club,'' Liverpool said in a statement on its Web site.

Kuyt scored 71 goals in 285 appearances for Liverpool.

Fenerbahce is embroiled in a match-fixing scandal that allegedly involved several league games in the 2010-11 season.

Fenerbahce was excluded from last season's Champions League after UEFA pressured the Turkish Football Federation to withdraw the club's entry days before the group-stage draw.
