TORONTO (AP) -- Toronto FC acquired striker Eric Hassli from the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday.

In exchange for Hassli, the Whitecaps get a first-round pick in the 2014 MLS draft and an international roster spot through the 2013 season.

Toronto coach Paul Mariner had said he would be looking to acquire attacking players after striker Danny Koevermans sustained a season-ending knee injury last week.

Hassli, 31, joined Vancouver from Swiss side FC Zurich at the start of the 2011 season. Since then, he's scored 12 goals and five assists in 44 league appearances, as well as three goals in eight Canadian championship matches.
