SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) -- The Macedonian football federation says that national team coach John Toshack has had his contract terminated after failing to agree to demands laid out by the governing body's new president.

Local media reports say that the 63-year-old Toshack had refused to move from Spain to Macedonia, where Ilcho Gjorgjioski had wanted him to become more involved with the development of the team.

A statement on the FFM website says "The coach of the Macedonian team John Toshack was not ready to meet the requirements of the President of the FFM Ilcho Gjorgjioski and ultimately agreed a contractual termination.''

Macedonia is the same qualifying group for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as Toshack's home country, Wales.

Toshack coached Wales from 2004-10, before taking over Macedonia in August 2011.
