ATLANTA (AP) -- Former U.S. national team star Eric Wynalda has been replaced as coach of the Atlanta Silverbacks by assistant Brian Haynes.

The North American Soccer League team said Thursday that keeping Wynalda as coach became "too difficult" because of his job as a commentator for Fox Soccer, which starts its English Premier League telecasts this weekend.

Wynalda will remain with the team as an adviser. He coached the Silverbacks to a 3-1-3 record after he was hired as interim coach on July 2.

Haynes, a former assistant with Major League Soccer's FC Dallas, joined the Silverbacks on July 11.
