HARRISON, N.J. (AP) -- The New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan Meara had arthroscopic surgery Thursday to repair his left hip, and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The former Fordham star from Yonkers earned the starting role in preseason and was 9-5-4 with a 1.50 goals-against average. He set an MLS rookie shutout record of 321 minutes while helping the Red Bulls win five straight games from April 28 to May 19.
