BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) -- Nearly three months after being fired by Tottenham, Harry Redknapp has made his return to English football management at third-tier Bournemouth.

The 65-year-old Redknapp has accepted an advisory role at his local club where he began his coaching career in 1983.

His first match back at Bournemouth will be Saturday's League One fixture at Yeovil.

Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell says Friday that Redknapp "still has a passion for the club, and for football and he's got too much to offer for us to let him slip through our fingers.''

Redknapp was fired by Spurs in June despite leading the club to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League last season. He was a big favorite to take over from Fabio Capello after the Italian quit as England manager in February, but was overlooked in favor of Roy Hodgson.
