SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain (AP) -- Real Sociedad says goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has had surgery on his right arm after breaking it in practice.

The Spanish club said Bravo was operated on on Thursday after hurting his wrist and forearm while trying to stop a shot the day before.

Bravo, a Chile international, has been a starter in goal for Sociedad for over six seasons.

The club gave no indication of how long it expects Bravo to be sidelined.

Sociedad hosts Athletic Bilbao in a Basque Country derby in the Spanish league on Saturday.
