HEIDELBERG, Germany (AP) -- Hoffenheim midfielder Boris Vukcevic remains in critical but stable condition following Friday's traffic accident in which his car collided head on with a truck.

Heidelberg University Hospital says the 22-year-old Vukcevic is still in an induced coma after "two operations on his head and brain.''

Vukcevic suffered life-threatening head injuries in the collision while driving between Hoffenheim and Heidelberg.

The hospital says "a prognosis is not possible at this time and will likely only be possible in the next weeks.''

It added: "His doctors are doing everything to protect the brain from further damage.''

Vukcevic, a Croatian-born German national, has made 78 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim, and six for Germany's under-21 team.
