Independiente and U Catolica draw 2-2 in Copa Sudamericana

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- Argentine club Independiente and Universidad Catolica of Chile played a 2-2 draw Thursday in their first-leg quarterfinal of the Copa Sudamericana.

Nicolas Castillo and Enzo Andia scored for Universidad Catolica. Cristian Tula got the only goal for Independiente. The other was an own-goal by Hans Martinez of Catolica.

In other first-leg quarterfinals this week, Paraguay club Cerro Porteno defeated Tigre of Argentina 1-0, Gremio of Brazil beat Millonarios of Colombia 1-0, and Sao Paulo won 2-0 against Universidad de Chile.

The Copa Sudamericana is the No. 2 club tournament in South America, ranked behind the more prestigious Copa Libertadores.
