Chelsea turns a profit, thanks to Champions League victory |


LONDON (AP) -- Boosted by its first Champions League title, Chelsea has made an annual profit for the first time in the nine-year reign of Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.
The English Premier League club announced a profit of $2.2 million through June 30, compared to a $109 million loss in the previous financial year.
Chelsea made $77 million from its successful Champions League campaign, which ended in a victory over Bayern Munich in Munich, and $46 million from dealings in the transfer market.
