SAO PAULO (AP) -- A Brazilian hospital says Pele is in good condition after undergoing surgery.

The Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo did not release details, but local media said Tuesday that the football great had an operation on his hip.

The hospital said it can only disclose additional information with the consent of the former player's family.

Globo TV said he is expected to be released on Wednesday. It wasn't clear when he was admitted.

Pele, who won three World Cup titles with Brazil and scored nearly 1,300 career goals, turned 72 in October.
