LONDON (AP) -Everton captain Phil Neville will join the England under-21 coaching staff for a match next week, the first step toward a post-playing managerial career.

The 35-year-old former England defender will work under Brian Eastick and John Peacock for Wednesday's match against Belgium.

England under-21 coach Stuart Pearce has stepped up to take charge of the senior side for Wednesday's friendly against the Netherlands following Fabio Capello's resignation.
