Atalanta's Masiello questioned over match-fixing

BARI, Italy (AP) -Atalanta defender Andrea Masiello was questioned for more than six hours on Wednesday in the ongoing Italian probe into match-fixing.

Masiello was arrested on Monday and kept in custody after reportedly admitting his part in the scandal during his time at Bari. He spent four hours in the morning being questioned before being further interrogated by Bari prosecutor Antonio Laudati and his deputy.

Several of Bari's matches in Serie A last season are being examined, including the derby in which Masiello's own goal helped Lecce win 2-0 to avoid relegation after Bari had already been relegated. Several of Masiello's teammates are also under suspicion.

According to Italian news agency ANSA, Masiello admitted that he scored the own goal on purpose in order to receive ?180,000.

Bari's match at Udinese in May 2010 is also under suspicion.

Masiello spent three and a half years at Bari before moving to Atalanta last summer.

ANSA also reported Wednesday that Chievo's 1-1 draw against Siena this season is being looked into after Cremona prosecutors were notified of suspicious betting patterns. According to betting company Planet Win 365, more than 50 percent of the bets received correctly predicted the scoreline.
