AMSTERDAM (AP) -PSV Eindhoven says it has hired Dick Advocaat on a one-year contract for next season after he quits as Russia coach following the European Championship.

The 64-year-old Dutchman earlier coached PSV from 1995-98, winning the league in 1997 and Dutch cup in 1996.

The well-traveled Advocaat has since coached clubs and countries including Glasgow Rangers, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Zenit St. Petersburg, the Netherlands, South Korea and Belgium before succeeding fellow Dutchman Guus Hiddink as Russia coach.

PSV ended a disappointing third in the Dutch league, missing out on a Champions League place for next season.

The club did not announce financial terms of his new contract Thursday, but said he turned down lucrative offers from Russia to return to Eindhoven.
