SANTANDER, Spain (AP) - Spanish club Racing Santander says U.S. defender Carlos Bocanegra will be sidelined for six weeks because of a muscle tear in his left leg.

Bocanegra was injured during the United States' 2-2 draw with Russia on Nov. 14.

Bocanegra is playing for Racing in Spain's second division on loan from Scottish side Rangers.

He shouldn't miss any time with the American national side, set to resume play against Honduras on Feb 6.
